Kongwak

Kongwak is a tiny rural community nestled amongst the rolling green hills of South Gippsland, between Korumburra and Inverloch. Surrounded by dairy farms and peaceful countryside, Kongwak has a wonderfully relaxed country character and a strong connection to the area's agricultural heritage. The village developed around its historic butter and cheese factory, which became an important part of the local dairy industry, and remnants of this history can still be seen around the township.

Life at Kongwak

Although small, Kongwak comes alive every Sunday when the famous Kongwak Market brings locals and visitors together. The all-weather market features an eclectic mix of vintage and retro items, collectables, books, plants, local produce, food, coffee and live music, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that has become one of the area's much-loved attractions. Beyond the market, Kongwak is surrounded by beautiful farming country and quiet roads that are ideal for exploring by car, bike or on foot. There are walking tracks through the nearby reserve, while the village's location makes it easy to explore the wider South Gippsland region, with Inverloch, Korumburra, Wonthaggi and the beaches of the Bass Coast all within easy reach. Kongwak is a wonderful choice for visitors wanting to experience the quieter, more authentic side of country Victoria, away from the larger tourist centres.
